Wellness Nursing Team

Anissa Reynolds, Veterinary Nurse

Anissa has been a Veterinary Nurse for 16 years. She has always felt drawn to caring for animals of all shapes, sizes, and species. In fact, Anissa volunteers for wildlife rehabilitation and has fostered raccoons, squirrels, opossums, and rabbits. Anissa graduated from an ultrasound program in 1998, but she could not imagine herself in a career without animals. Therefore, she decided to utilize her skills to diagnose medical conditions in animals. Anissa has a strong interest in surgery, ultrasound imaging, senior pet care, and exotic medicine.

At home, Anissa has eleven pets, including: three dogs (Pierre- a French Bull Dog, Seamus- a Boston Terrior, and Moshu- a Pug), a cat (Emma- an Exotic Shorthair), a bearded dragon (Lounge), four parrots, and, last but not least, Debber, a 6-year old 50lb African Sulcata Tortoise.

Molly Corson, Veterinary Nurse

Molly joined the Dickinson Animal Hospital & Pet Wellness Center team in 2007 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Biomedical Science. It had always been Molly’s dream to work with animals; growing up she kept as many different types of pets as her parents would allow (which never seemed to be enough). Molly’s first experience working directly with veterinarians as a nurse was here, at Dickinson Animal Hospital & Pet Wellness Center, and she feels that she could not have asked for a better set of “teachers” or a better learning environment. The high standards of care and commitment to excellence have helped Molly to become a stronger animal health care advocate, and she looks forward to continued learning and growth with this practice.

Much of Molly’s free time is occupied by her pursuit of a Master’s Degree and the care of her cows, ducks, dogs, miniature donkeys, pigs, tortoises, and (soon-to-be) chickens.

Heather Irwin, Veterinary Nurse

Heather’s love for veterinary medicine began when she was in high school working as a Kennel Technician. Over the years, she has gained experience at two practices. Heather had the opportunity to travel with a veterinary software company, which allowed her to mentor and train staff members and doctors in many progressive practices in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Heather joined Dickinson Animal Hospital & Pet Wellness Center in 2008 as a Veterinary Nurse and uses her skills and knowledge to educate clients about wellness care for their beloved companions. When problems are uncovered during routine diagnostic testing, Heather’s belief in the importance of preventative care is confirmed.

Heather graduated in 2010 from the University of Houston with a degree in Education, and she enjoys substitute teaching in her free time. She has two daughters who keep her extremely busy, along with their dog (Eddie), cat (Willow), two bearded dragons (Bonnie and Clyde), and two guinea pigs (Oreo and Porkchop).

Sarah Purcell, Veterinary Nurse

Sarah has always taken advantage of any opportunity to help an animal. She joined the Dickinson Animal Hospital & Pet Wellness Team in 2009. Since that time, her interests in pet wellness have expanded greatly. Particularly, Sarah enjoys working with rescue animals who are brought into the hospital with special medical conditions.

Other than being a great caregiver to her pet patients, she has three great kids at home that keep her energized and busy. She and her family have two playful dogs, Max, and Pistol and a pet rat.

Rachel Dixon, CVT, Veterinary Nurse

Rachel grew up in Alvin, Texas and graduated from Alvin High School in 2004. A passion for animals began at an early age, when Rachel would play outdoors with her twin sister, Rebecca. The two would go on many adventures, searching for different types of insects, wildlife and companion animals. She graduated from the Medical Office Specialist Program from the Texas School of Business in 2007. Rachel decided to begin her career with animals by achieving as Associates Degree from the Vet Tech Institute of Houston in 2010. She has enjoyed the new experiences, learning about surgical procedures, phlebotomy, and spending time with all the furry, scaly, and feathered animals who walk, slither, or fly through our doors.

At home, Rachel’s family of four legs includes two dogs: Wolverine (a rescued Border Collie mix) and Treasure (a Chocolate Miniature Pinscher), and three cats: Max (an Orange Main Coon), Bentley (a Grey and White Domestic Shorthair), and Sable (a Black Domestic Shorthair).

Amanda Welch, Veterinary Nurse

Amanda’s passion for animals and their care began at the very young age of 5, when she discovered an injured rabbit. Since that experience, Amanda’s heart and compassion towards the care of animals has been a driving force in her life. She graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology in 2009, and she earned her CVA in the summer of 2009. She has worked in the veterinary profession since 2004, beginning as an Animal Attendant and now as a Veterinary Technician. Amanda joined Dickinson Animal Hospital & Pet Wellness Center in 2010. Every day she learns something new and appreciates that the doctors educate the nurses as well as the clients. Amanda hopes to return to graduate school in the future to become a Veterinarian for small animals, specializing in surgery, animal behavior, and physical therapy.

At home, Amanda has five dogs: Sugar (an Australian Shepherd), Ginger (a Jack Russell Terrior), Betsy, Nala, and Iggy (all Dachshunds), and three horses (Jennifer, Paloma, and Jr.)
